HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. — Rick Pitino received his first faculty basketball recreation in additional than three years on Saturday when Iona defeated Hofstra 82-74.
Pitino took over at Iona in March after not having coached in faculty since being fired from Louisville in October 2017.
Guard Isaiah Ross helped energy the Gaels’ victory Saturday, scoring a career-high 33 factors.
Nelly Junior Joseph had 14 factors, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks for Iona (1-1). Dylan van Eyck added 14 factors. Berrick JeanLouis had 10 factors and eight rebounds.
Tareq Coburn scored a career-high 28 factors for the Satisfaction (1-2). Isaac Kante added 17 factors. Jalen Ray had 15 factors.
Iona misplaced its season opener to Seton Corridor 86-64.
